  • Women’s rings usually use 2 to 5 grams of gold.

  • Chunky or elaborate designs (e.g., signet rings, cocktail rings) may use 10+ grams.

Ring Size



  • Larger finger sizes naturally require more gold.

  • For example, a size 12 ring will need more gold than a size 6 of the same design.

Gold Purity



  • 24K gold is pure but soft, rarely used alone for rings.

  • 22K (91.6% purity) and 18K (75% purity) are most common for durability.

  • Lower karats like 14K use less gold by percentage, affecting the total weight of pure gold used.
